2018 Decorating Trends

Now that the month of December is well underway, we’re feeling a sudden urge to mix it up and start 2018 with a bang. How about you? If you’re in the mood for a change in decor in your condo, look no further! Here are some of the decorating trends for the New Year. 2018: where opulence and sobriety intertwine.

The Pantone Color of the Year

This is a must! Pantone has just announced its color of the year, Ultra Violet (18-3838). According to Pantone, Ultra Violet is “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful shade, which expresses originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.” In interior design, on an accent wall for example, this color can highlight a sofa or a work of art. Lively and radiant, it’s very versatile, befitting all rooms and bringing boldness to your decor.

In the same vein, even if white is still in vogue, we’re noticing more colors on walls. Try rich shades like terracottas, deep blues and warm greens to add a feeling of warmth to your home.

In True Scandinavian Style

The Danish lifestyle, which can be translated to the world of interior design, will still be trendy in 2018. The clean lines, rough wood accents or ergonomic and functional designs are all reminiscent of Nordic countries, and will be ‘in’ for a fair few years to come. White remains a favorite, but variations of gray, beige or sky blue are also great choices.

Velvet in Full Force!

As we know, decorating styles often follow the trends in fashion. Velvet will be everywhere in 2018, in wardrobes and the household! Although it’s synonymous with chic, velvet can add a touch of warmth to a room. We like it in the tones of precious stones such as emerald green, quartz, navy, purple and gold. Would you dare give it a try?

 The Return to Raw Materials

Wood, natural stone, steel, brick and concrete have been all the rage for several years now and will still be in vogue over the next year. Whether in furniture, lighting, floor coverings, walls or counters, raw materials bring a warm rustic touch to your home decor. And since it’s fashionable to combine different textures and materials, people are daring to mix and match them for personalized results.

All in all, there’s something for everyone in the 2018 trends. Will you opt for opulence or sobriety in your decor next year?
