Our energy saving tips for your condo!
Winter is knocking at our door, which means heating costs and peak energy consumption for your condo. Did you know that Canada is one of the top ten energy consumers in the world? Here are our tips for cutting back!
Although everyone has their own preference, it’s best to keep the temperature in your condo between 18 °C and 21 °C. Did you know that every degree you lower your heating below 20 °C reduces energy consumption by 2 to 5 percent? It’s worth thinking about!
It may not have occurred to you, but the humidity level of your condo could contribute to your heating bill. It takes energy to heat excess moisture in the air. The recommended relative humidity level for winter is between 30 and 50 percent. For extremely cold days, you should let it drop to 30 percent, but let it climb back up to 50 when it’s warmer.
Ventilate, ventilate, ventilate!
Open a window in the middle of winter? Yes, please! You should air out your condo for five minutes every day to reduce excess humidity that’s adding to your energy consumption. You can also run the kitchen or bathroom fan to achieve a similar result.
These simple tips can make all the difference. Happy winter!
