Our favourites at the 2018 SIDIM
The Montreal International Design Show (SIDIM) celebrated its 30th anniversary on April 26-28 at Place Bonaventure. This immense creativity and talent showcase is a must-attend event for design professionals, amateurs and consumers looking to make a purchase or simply get inspired. Here are our five favourite local exhibitors that took part in this latest, highly colourful edition.
Woodstock & cie
“Inspiring change. Enriching your environment. One piece of furniture at a time.” That’s the mission of Woodstock & cie, a young, local business helmed by a woodworking couple that creates absolutely stunning solid wood tables and other products. These made-in-Quebec products are semi-customizable (clients take part in the design process by personalizing specific features of their furniture) and produced using only solid oak and white ash wood. In order to minimize its carbon footprint, Woodstock & cie commits to planting five trees for each product sold. https://woodstockcie.com/
Aline Bertin Céramiste
An East Coast native, Aline Bertin draws her inspiration from marine landscapes, ocean textures and the night sky, blending their natural features into her ceramic work. Entirely handmade and carved without a set pattern, each of her pieces is unique and features irregular lines that reflect the randomness of natural landscapes. We particularly love her low-key, yet bold “black and white” collection. http://www.alinebertin.com/
Élément de base
Élément de base is a responsible, Montreal-based initiative that rethinks interior aesthetics and functional management through forward-thinking, locally produced furniture offered at budget-friendly prices. We love their sectionals and beds, as well as their unique colour options that will make their units stand out in any decor. https://elementdebase.com
Your pets also deserve quality products to live in absolute comfort. This local business uses natural products, carefully selected for their quality and durability. The small felt beds and pillows are both modern and made tough, ensuring years of style. We’d also like to give a special shout out to their lead pencils (for humans, this time!) adorned with hilarious kitty quotes. http://animalove.ca
Founded in 1967, Huppé is a Quebec-based business dedicated to producing a full range of furniture in innovative and contemporary designs, whether you’re looking for something for sleeping, living, working or hosting. Its unique and distinct aesthetics, expressed through simple, yet high-quality collections, inspire us to modernize and streamline our own decor. We particularly loved the storage units for walk-in closets that optimize space (perfect for condos!) and look very stylish. http://www.huppe.net/
See you at the SIDIM’s next edition, March 28-30, 2019! Until then, stay inspired.
